Manchester United’s Paul Pogba says May 22 bombing ‘is not Islam and everybody knows that’

Recent terror attacks which have blighted the U.K. should not be linked to religion, one of the country’s top footballing stars has said.

In an interview with Esquire magazine Frenchman Paul Pogba, who transferred to one of the biggest teams in the English Premiere League last season from Italian giants Juventus, described the spate of bombings, stabbings and vehicle attacks as “a very difficult moment”.

Referring to the Manchester concert bombing which killed 22 people on May 22, Pogba — a Muslim — said: “This is not Islam and everybody knows that. I won’t be the only one saying that.”

“To kill a human being… it’s something crazy, so I don’t want to put religion on it,” he added.

The French international, who was born in 1993 to Guinean parents, previously played for Manchester United for a season in 2011-2012 after spending two years in the youth team.
