Food aid delivered to needy families in Baghdad who were forced to flee homes by Daesh terrorist group

Some 250 Iraqi Christian families forced to flee their homes by the Daesh terrorist group got help on Friday from the Turkish Red Crescent in a program overseen by Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Fatih Yildiz.

The food was distributed in Baghdad’s Sayidat al-Nejat Cathedral.

“We were very pleased with the event, which was organized in coordination with the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad,” Mukhlas Sisi, a priest at the cathedral, told Anadolu Agency.

“These families were really desperate,” he added.

Pointing to how Iraqi Christians have suffered severely from Daesh terrorism, Sisi added: “We are deeply grateful to Turkey, which has stood by these families and given them a helping a hand.”
