Turkish wrestlers claim medals in World Championship

Turkish wrestler Taha Akgul won the gold medal Saturday in the men’s 125-kilogram freestyle category in the 2015 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, in the U.S.

Akgul beat Azerbaijani wrestler Jamaladdin Magomedov 10-0 in final at the Orleans Arena and became world champion for the second time in a row.

Another Turkish wrestler Yakup Gor won the bronze medal Saturday in the men’s 70-kilogram freestyle category.

Gor beat Belarussian wrestler Azamat Nurykau 9-8 at the Orleans Arena.

The 2015 World Wrestling Championships boast three disciplines — Men’s Greco-Roman, Women’s Freestyle and Men’s Freestyle — and were held between Sept. 7 and 12.
